By air

Domestic airlines and charter operators fly from Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau (NAS) to most Family Islands, and some islands have direct flights from Florida. Planes are small, so check the baggage limit before you pack.

Andros alone has four airports. Book the one nearest where you're staying.

By mail boat

Mail boats carry freight, mail and passengers from Potter's Cay Dock in Nassau to the islands, usually overnight. They are the cheapest way to travel and a real piece of island life. Schedules shift with weather and cargo, so call the dock master to confirm the day before.

On the island

Rental cars and taxis are the main way around larger islands; many taxis meet flights rather than cruise the roads. Reserve a car before you land, carry cash for taxis, and ask your guesthouse who they trust.

Between cays

Water taxis and private boat captains connect cays and settlements that roads don't reach. Agree the price and return time before you leave the dock.
